Send a message to the person who requested a photo of the grave monument of Robert William Hanley with the following comment:
HiI am Chaplain to the Methodist home where Robert Hanley's aunt Ivy (Bob's mother Florence was 20 years older than Ivy) lives. We are helping Ivy and her daughter turn their family photos and stories into a book for Ivy for Christmas. Not sure how seeing the photo will work, but Bob and Ivy were the same age, and we have several photos of them together as children. As to helping GPR - I can only offer a story... Growing up in Sutton, Surrey I got to know 'Bawtrees The Photographers' a large shop next to Sutton Station. Mr Bawtree used to host a missionary prayer-meeting in his home which I went to in my twenties. Sharing an interest in photography, Mr Bawtree (never did get on first name terms in those days) told me of his time after WW1 (prob early 1920s) as Official Photographer with the War Graves Commission. He said it was a small team, but that they were required to photograph every headstone in situ.Is it these photos that you are using, or have you access to more recent ones?Anyway - as I found you thanks to a Google search on the Hanley (Ivy's maiden name) family I will gladly say a big THANK YOU if you would send the photo. I will certainly show it to Ivy's daughter and we will discuss whether we should show it to Ivy as it may be a bit traumatic. Appreciate the work you and your volunteers are doing.PS it also appears to have 2 locations - section 1 and section 4 in the Nijmegen Cemetery - are there 2 headstones???Thanks againReverend Mike Dilly, Swindon.
